When England is occupied by the Normans in 1066 and Normandy gets under control of France, the Normandic island of Guernsey becomes an English fiefdom as the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Between 1940 and 1945 Guernsey is occupied by Germany. Guernsey is now a parliamentary democracy, but no parties exist. Since 2004 Guernsey has its own prime minister.
